Adult Ministries

We desire for our adult ministries to be summarized by this verse, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42).  Four foundational pillars emerge from our thinking about this:  Word, Worship, Love, and Gospel.  We gather on Sunday mornings to include Bible classes for all ages, and then we join together for worship together as a whole church family.  Throughout the week, we meet at various times for discussing God’s Word, enjoying fellowship, and seeking God’s direct intervention through prayer.  We believe that it is not only important for a believer to attend a Sunday morning service but also to seek out Christian accountability, discipleship, ministry, and outreach throughout the week.

Our desire through our adult ministries is for men and women to find Christ, learn Christ, love Christ, and live for Christ.  We are blessed to have loving brothers and sisters in this church family who have a heart for ministry and desire to be obedient to the instruction given by the Lord Jesus Christ.  Our purpose in our adult ministries is to glorify God by actively engaging in the work of the great commission, to prayerfully and compassionately point people to glorious salvation of the Savior, to draw them in the warm fellowship of the body of Christ, to edify their hearts, and to equip them for ministry both locally and world-wide.   This work is facilitated by adult Sunday school classes, Bible studies, fellowship activities, and evangelistic outreach.

Sunday School

Our adult Sunday School class is an hour of vibrant teaching at 9:30 on Sunday mornings, including a variety of relevant topics and important studies of books in the Bible.  Currently, Mike Ghiglia of Share the Son Ministries is teaching on evangelism strategies within our unique culture.  Todd Wood also desires to start a Berean life class, focusing on Berean ministry philosophy and discipleship.

Inductive Bible Study

Our Wednesday evening times are more informal than our Sunday morning services.  We meet at 6:30 pm.  In the course of the hour, we study Colossians, share our prayer requests, and take time to pray.  Colossians 1:17 states, “And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”  This is our theme for the book study.

Men’s Ministry

Sometimes our culture can have the perception that church is only for women and children.  But we believe that men are a vital part of church body life.  We believe that God desires men to be leaders in their family and leaders in the church.  And as we believe in this priority, we would like to see much intentional engagement with men associated with our church body.

Each Monday morning at 7:00, brothers gather at the Bella Vita for Bible Study, fellowship, and prayer.  Also, the men meet on the first Saturday of each month for a good breakfast, study in the Sermon on the Mount, and prayer.  Annually, there is a men’s retreat at Red Cliff Bible Camp, about three and half hour’s drive from Idaho Falls into Wyoming.  We look forward in the days ahead to strengthening men’s relationships as iron sharpens iron.

Men’s Fellowship Breakfast

Every first Saturday of the month, guys will get together at the church building, cook up some good breakfast chow in our kitchen, and then settle in for some discussion on Christ’s Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7.  And always, the guys take time to hear each other’s prayer requests and bring these needs before the Lord.   Jeff Ashenfelter leads this particular men’s ministry.  His contact number is 201-0789.

Men’s Bible Study

On Monday mornings, we meet at the Bella Vita Coffee Shop at 7:00 am.  During this time, we savor good coffee, enjoy fellowship with one another, share prayer requests, and delve into the book of Galatians.  God exhorts us to “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1).  This weekly study allows men to focus on the central truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The nature of God and God’s gospel are fundamental to what needs to be understood and attractively communicated to our community and culture.  This is our core purpose as the band of Berean brothers in glorifying God.

Ladies Ministries

The ladies of Berean are a gracious and loving blessing to the ongoing ministry at Berean.  They meet the first Tuesday of every month at Leslee Blanch’s home for a study on the fruit of the Spirit.  There are also opportunities for ladies to be involved in and with annual retreats, conferences, and ladies’ tea.

Ladies Bible Study

A dozen ladies meet together on the first Tuesday of each month at Leslee Blanch’s home.  Her contact number is 542-0477.  They are presently utilizing a Beth Moore curriculum, zeroing in on the fruits of the Spirit.  Each lesson stands alone, so all are welcome to come at any time even though they have missed previous lessons.
