About Berean Baptist Church

History

God birthed this church family in January of 1995 on the outskirts of the West side of town.  As a church planter under Northwest Baptist Missions, Todd and his family joined this nucleus of believers in the summer of 1997.  We met for a spell in the conference room of the Idaho Falls public library.  And now, we permanently meet in our building on East First Street just within the city boundaries of Ammon, Idaho.  Our history is unique.  And it is all God’s moving.  It is His story through us.

Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe in the verbal inspiration and complete inerrancy of the original manuscripts of Scriptures. (2Tim 3:16-17; 1Peter 1:19-21)

God

We believe that there is one living and true God. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and they are equal in every divine perfection, but execute distinct yet harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (1Cor 8:6; Eph 4:6)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God and existed eternally with the Father. He was born of a virgin, yet, retained His deity, lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death, rose physically from the grave, and ascended to Heaven. (Jn 1:1-5; 1Cor 15:3-4; 1Jn 2:2)

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God, the Father, and God, the Son, and of the same nature. (Gen 1:1-3; Eph 1:13-14; 1Pet 1:2)

Creation

We believe the literal Genesis account of creation. (Gen 1-2)

Man

We believe that man was created in perfection, but sinned. Because of Adams sin we are all sinners and are completely guilty before God. (Gen 3:1-6; Rom 1:18,20,28,32; 3:10-19; 5:12,19)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is an act of God where, by his grace, he accepts the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins. Through repentance and faith we are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. (Rom 10:9-13; 1Pet 2:24; 3:18)

Foundational Pillars

Worship of the Triune God  - At the center of everything is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Our central desire is to worship and give
glory to God alone in everything we do and say.

Always the Word - Because our personal opinions and interpretations have no authority, we seek God's word for the truth that is unchanging and final.

Gospel - The gospel is the power of God and the only message for showing mankind how to be free.

Love - This is our badge in fundamentally identifying us as disciples of Jesus Christ, that we love one another.

Todd Wood – Senior Pastor

“In the cold, snowy winter of 1969, I was born in an LDS hospital (nonexistent today) along the banks of the Snake River in Idaho Falls.  It is one of the greatest privileges of my life to be an undershepherd for the B.B.C. family.  The Wood family’s theme passage is Isaiah 61:1-3 . . . growing oaks for God’s glory.
